The word "glamping" is a word that appeared for the first time in the English dictionary only in 2015.A brand new word, therefore, but which has ancient origins, in fact it is said that the first glamping was probably set up by the Count of Atholl, who set up a luxury campsite in Scotland to host James V.

The price of the various glampsites can range from as little as £ 50 per night up to thousands of euros per night depending on the amenities, which may include fresh linens, private bathrooms, catering services and private verandas.
There are still no pre-established "standars" or minimum requirements to open a glamping but surely, it is a phenomenon that is liked and that even large hotel groups are starting to seriously consider as a business trend for the future.

Glamping, or Glamor Camping, is without any doubt the new concept of luxury open-air tourism.

Born in northern Europe at the beginning of 2000, this new tourist "trend" that offers contact with nature without sacrificing the comfort of a resort, is becoming increasingly popular also in Italy.

In our peninsula there are about twenty structures that define themselves as glamping although their accommodation proposal is really different and varied.

Glamping, until now, has not had a specific jurisdiction or regulation starting as a basis from the requirements to which an open-air receptive activity is subjected, that is the camping.
To date, a stay in a Glamping offers a variety of truly varied and interesting housing solutions and also of great luxury.

At the dawn of the phenomenon it was mostly very beautiful and well-equipped tents that offered almost the comforts of a real accommodation, or rural houses made of wood located above the trees or in other contexts surrounded by nature; now when we talk about Glamping we also talk about Yurta, the typical circular tents originating from Mongolia with a particular internal ventilation system, or "bubble" bubble-shaped structures built in glass or transparent materials that allow you to immerse yourself vertically in the natural context in which they are located, lodges or chalets, housing structures in wood or other solid and very resistant materials that inside have the appearance of a small apartment but which are located in very lush and beautiful natural contexts and have access direct with nature.
Then there are the "barrels", small barrel-shaped wooden lodgings with inside the necessary for an overnight stay but of comfort, small Canadians in the shape of stilts built with sustainable but also super technological materials, essential but which offer that dimension of "shelter-nest" that allows us a total immersion in the landscape in which we find ourselves and a truly intimate and refined intimacy ....
In short, there are solutions for all tastes and needs.

Precisely due to the fact that there is no specific regulation that defines the parameters of the "Glamping" accommodation, very different solutions can be found, in different contexts and with truly varied comforts and services.
doing a quick search on the web you will find camping / glamping where an accommodation for one night costs 50 euros for a couple in real luxury resorts where instead we are talking about three zero figures.

The trend makes us understand that Glamor Camping is beginning to be conceived as a luxury accommodation proposal immersed in natural contexts.
The customers of this new hospitality proposal are a demanding, aware public, attentive to sustainability but also to the attention to detail and the exclusivity of the proposal.

And it is precisely the word "exclusive" that makes Glamping so requested and attractive for this slice of the market, because from the concept of a simple stay, one passes on to living a real experience.

Do you want the covid that made us re-evaluate the importance of life in the open air and a healthy lifestyle, do you want the need for man to regain possession of the roots and the intense and deep relationship with nature, this phenomenon, together with various activities related to outdoor and open air are making giant leaps in terms of expansion, market demand and consumer demand.

A recent study conducted for FAITA by the company Thrends has shown how the luxury open air business has also increased the target audience.
58% of the structures currently existing on the national territory have highlighted the increase in new customers in the last 2 years, certainly the foreign market is the master having a greater and more marked vocation for the outdoor but also the Italian market is evaluating positively the holiday in nature and in non-hotel accommodation facilities.

Also according to the study conducted by Thrends, the average turnover of a campsite in Italy in 2019 ranged from 292,342 to 1,575,127 euros per hectare with peaks of 6,561,549 in the top destinations (Veneto) as regards "en plein air" accommodation. .
Currently in Italy, campsites occupy an average of 7,234 hectares of the national territory; of these 2/3 are 4 and 5 star structures, this makes us understand how the market has taken a clear and defined direction with respect to the increasingly demanding and competent market demand and also makes us understand that there is an excellent margin of development.
